South Carolina huh.

Augusta apparently crosses the state line between Georgia and South Carolina which is weird in itself. I have a friend who lived in Augusta, GA but worked at a nuclear plant just up the road in Augusta, SC.

The black people I have met from Augusta seem less sensitive to racial prejudice than most people I know. There isn't really a list of examples I can give to support my perception, but a combo of comments I have heard from them about the Masters Tournament among other things came across as subservient to me.

no i don't embrace it, but it is currently the most used word among young blacks in america...just go on a public bus or train you are guaranteed to hear young blacks &amp; older ones too saying that word like it was oxygen...
all the famous black actors, rappers, comedians, etc use it very profusely...
they love the word...
so perhaps one day they will love the confederate flag too DWL

so the bigger question is why is he mis-educaitng himself. at the end of the day he is responsible for his education, not the school.

when i was a kid i had a little general lee car from the dukes of hazard -- with the confederate flag on the top...

i had no idea what it was, just loved the show and asked my mom or to buy it for me...

Lucky u.. u must have been happy getting the toy....

Each time I see it is like a lash in my opnion across the back a viseral desire to rip it down...

But I read alot on the subject.. But history is a strange thing.. The majority of Southerns were what we would term racist.. Lee claimed to be anti slavery but then he had a Jeffersonian attitude or more a Patrick Henry....Given half a chance AA fled to the northern yanki side...who for a while turned them back till the so called emancipation declaration.. (which made slavery illegal in the confederasy not the Union.. Which I beleive had two states that had slavery )..

Thus should not an AA holding a union flag not solicite such rancour ??? Still this is a bit like the Tea Party.. they celebrate a group of rich merchants wjho were undercut by the East India tea company who would have sold tea cheaper to the populous and would have in effect lowered the tax burden on the ordinary yanki! (East India company had the monopoly on tea at the time signed a deal to supply the US with excess tea they were holding in the UK!)

The majority of soldiers who fought for the confederasy were not slave owners, despite being rascist.. (no more than the union supporters !) but by the laws of supply and demand should have been anti slavery as slavery uncut their labour! There is evidence they were motivated not by support of slavery but they saw the federal goverment encroaching on their &quot;rights&quot;.... By taking this aspect of poltics of the time, the young man could construct a model where by the encroachment of the state continues... ignoring what had in effect been the creation of a myth to continue the support of slavery and expansion of this evil west wards... further into the land of my first nation cousins...

The encroachment of the state brought better schools infra structure application of the greatest instrument of human dignity.. the united states constitution...

in addition there was at least one regiment out of New Orleans of what is the poltical correct term these days... lighter colored african americans who were rasied on behalf of the confederasy..the first unit in the united states to have black officers in fact... but due ot political pressure of the time.. were prevented to having further iniative.. on the other hand he may be showing solidarity with the first confederate state vice president, whom accordding to JAG Rogers was accused by one of my first nation cousins of having African american blood...(or simply the paid labourers who dug trenches and fortifiations for the south...)
