<span style="font-weight: bold">December 29 is election day</span>

Jamaicans will vote on December 29 in the country’s 16th general election since Universal Adult Suffrage in 1944.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the date a short while ago at a rally in Mandeville square attended by tens of thousands of screaming, bell-ringing, flag-waving, horn-blowing supporters of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) who transformed the usually quiet central Jamaica town into a noisy sea of green — the JLP’s colour.

Nomination day, he said, will be December 12.

Not in the least bit surprised. He is hoping that momentum will carry the JLP through - there appears to a favorable trend moving the JLP's way.

But there goes my Christmas in JA plans. I like to be able to move about freely on my vacations. Not sure I want to spend Christmas housed up if things get tense as they sometimes do during elections in Jamaica.

Teacher would have called it before had it not been for the voters list shebangarang.
The 28th would have been the closest call according to the rules that regulate the days allowed to call after list was finalised.
