POLICE and gunmen in Spanish Town were this afternoon locked in a heated gun battle.
Reports from the area were that police, during a tour of the area, were confronted by armed thugs.
Persons were warned to avoid sections of Monk Street.
Officials at St Jago High School, an institution on Monk Street, were fearful.
“Students at the school have been locked on the compound. Shots are still being fired but we are not sure what is happening,” a teacher at the school told the Observer during the incident.
