i do not recall anything cutting edge or provocative on that program </div></div>

I recall that was when Oprah really beat him in the ratings and their program content was pretty much the same

by 1996 donahue had become weak and watered down as that era had come to an end...but in the early 90's late 80's it was great...
i remember it as being provocative AND cutting edge...

i remember seeing sharazad ali on the show...alton maddox disacussing the tawana brawley case...the central park jogger case, etc.
they tackled real topics....
now in its place we have the jerry springers and maury poviches

name one of the other shows like oprah or sally or rikki lake or maury who have had guests like sharazad ali, alton maddox, sista souljah, etc. where they had in-depth discussions...
i am NOT saying it was everyday but at least you could get a show with guests like that and discussions around it...that does not exist now...and never did on oprah

With about 3 exceptions, people tend to be dictated to (as in being told what to watch, when on TV) in majority non-christian countries than not.

of course illogical arguments will be proven wrong...you seem to equate christianity with good &amp; non-christianity with bad..but this is grossly oversimplified;

the USA was founded by christian or non-christian dictators depending on your point of view...the founding fathers' christianity can be challenged in the fact that they did not believe in the equality &amp; brotherhood of humanity...from the point of view of non-white, non-male, non-landowners they were certainly dictators

you absolutely can not find anything like this on network tv these days...
of course anyone with the money can buy sattelite tv &amp; get plenty stations...my point is that back in that time you could catch this free over the <span style="font-weight: bold">air</span>waves without being plugged into big brother

you are the one who seems to have been under a rockstone..the world of TV has changed ...even Monday night football is not on netowork TV anymore. freeness time done..everybody want to eat a food competition for content is heavy.

in the 90's the top rated network show used to pull a 30 share...today the top rated network shows pull an 10 share.

the idea that there is some plot by big brother to stifle progressive discussion is rediculous.

there has absolutely been no move toward totalitarian control over the last 15-20 years...
just the natural evolution over time...

then you're just not paying attention (IMO)...

they tell me that new business models are the reason why tv, radio, magazines, newspapers, etc. are now tightly controlled by a few media giants who monopolize the info that the general public gets...
not everyone has the money or sophistication to seek out obscure media outlets who report real &amp; honest news...
yea it's total coincidence why 15-20 years ago i heard conscious music on the radio but today i only hear degenerative records on the radio...
