So who watching it live tonight? I plan to watch it via the TVJ or CVM TV online stream. I thought the PNP won round 1 (they were just better prepared all around. Lisa Hanna sounded confident almost Prime Ministerial even if she played fast and loose with the facts. And I was just mesmerized by her beauty. I forgot how naturally beautiful she was.) Round 2 went to the JLP. Audley was just confident in his delivery and in control of the facts. Phillips did not look well, a bit like a deer caught in the headlights.

As for tonight I offer no predictions. I don't think Andrew Holness is particularly charismatic(as say a Michael Manley), nor is he as articulate as Bruce Golding. For a young person he can be a bit of a pedant and a bore. I hope he does not go up there giving off that school master monotone vibe. As to Portia, well I dunno. She has been trying to lower the expectation bar so unless somebody says something that 'draw har tongue' she may come off better than most people expect.

My views of the debate on youth:

the pnp team was stronger than the jlp team on a number of fronts:
- they used their alloted time better
- they stayed on message (lisa hanna in particular was very good at it)
- they better articulated their party's platfortm
- they got better political shots in
- they appeared better organized for the debate

they had some weaknesses - <span style="font-weight: bold">raymond pryce</span>, while a brilliant debator, brought a bit of an edge to his political shots that downgraded the debate a bit. <span style="font-weight: bold">lisa hanna</span> at times came off a bit too practiced. i liked the doctor guy, <span style="font-weight: bold">dayton campbell</span>, didnt have much to say but the little he said was meaningful.

the jlp team didnt really look like they practiced as a team, and that may be a metaphor to some degree for the bigger party, i don't know.

their best performer was<span style="font-weight: bold"> warren newby</span>, who came across as sincere and knowledgeable. i thought he was sexy as hell too. don't know why, maybe the way he talked.

next best was the doctor woman,<span style="font-weight: bold">sapphire longmore</span> who may be a rookie (maybe that's why she was &quot;spared&quot; by pryce), who tried to keep her answers to the high road and away from politics. but she has what, back in the day, was seen as seaga's great flaw - the love of numbers, thinking that people are impressed by them. as a result, longmore spent so much of her short time talking numbers she didnt get a chance to say what in the end they all meant for the average person. she most of anyone on the jlp team squandered their alloted time.

<span style="font-weight: bold">mrs malahoo forte</span> is a nice woman, i'm just surprised to hear she was a magistrate, because she comes across as a little airheaded. i heard her speak here in toronto too, and found her random and unfocussed.

but it was good to see the future of both parties go at it, and it gives me some hope for jamaica, as much as i can have hope for what really is now a foreign country to me.

Oh you been away from Jamaica for a while? I kinda feel like the internet keeps me connected. Many times I get news up here before my relatives down here. When Bruce Golding stepped down I was talking to someone in JA on the phone while online and I said I just heard Golding resigned. They were like what??!!! The wonders of technology.
