A Jamaican is a person who loves Jamaica...i heard a comment from a British Political.. Roy Hattersely... His comment was he was a Yorkshireman.. He loved Yorkshire and England.... He fell in love with the place.. He acknowledged that other people loved their country equally to how he loved his home land...He posulated we all fell in love with the place we first open our eyes.. The analogy is like spawning salmon we have a viseral love that is deep rooted in the place we are from...

That is the kind of love I refer not to the vistor who &quot;loves&quot; Jamaica....

The iconography that is presented as a nescisty of being a Jamaican is missing the point.. Love of food, music...clothes... I always find that it is the wannabes who present these regulations as nescities of identification...

I have heard too often the same song.. Jamaicans dont do this, Jamaicans dont do that.. Jamaicans like this or that.. It struck me as ignorant as a each time I am asked why I dont have locks. and why I am not blacker...

My father did not like reggae.. Did that make him less Jamaican...

Interestingly Micheal Manley stated he preferred Jazz to Reggaee.. Does that make him less Jamaican ???

Jamaican culture dislikes gays... Does that make the late lamented Jamaican greatest Dancer sexi rexi less Jamaican...

I am told all Jamaicans like avocado pears and jerk chicken... I dont like avocado pears and jerk chhicken is a late comer to Jamaicans cuisine.. Jamaicans dont eat this Jamaicans dont do that....

I prefer some Bach to Buju...Coltrane to Cobra..

As for the clothes thing.. There was a time I recall being told Jamaicans dont buy clothes off the peg..!
