JLP, PNP claim election fraud
Both major political parties are this afternoon complaining about alleged vote buying attempts by their opponents.
Releases from the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the People’s National Party (PNP) claim that supporters are being coerced not to vote tomorrow.
They say persons are being offered money to dip their fingers in indelible ink.
During the voting process, electors are required to dip their right index fingers in indelible ink to indicate they have already voted.
The ink usually takes days to disappear.
The parties claim supporters are being offered money to dip their fingers in the ink to ensure they cannot vote tomorrow.
In addition, the JLP’s Manchester Central candidate, Danville Walkers says he has been informed that persons in the constituency have been receiving text messages indicating they are ineligible to vote.
Jamaicans are being reminded that they can check their eligibility to vote by visiting the Electoral Commission’s website or the EOJ office in their constituency or by calling the EOJ at 1-888-991-8683.
