Tourist loses leg in motor vehicle crash

One of two tourists will now have to adapt to life without a leg after it was severed following a motor vehicle crash in St Elizabeth yesterday.
Information reaching THE STAR is sketchy, however, THE STAR understands that both tourists are now in hospital in serious condition.
It is reported that the brake of a Hiace motor vehicle failed in Black River yesterday leading to a collision into a group of pedestrians which the tourists were among.
According to the Black River police, about 4:45 p.m., the driver of the Hiace was travelling along High Street in the town when the brakes failed.
It is understood that several pedestrians were walking along the road at the time and about seven were injured.
Investigations are ongoing.
