... received a raise at work?

The first day back at work after the holidays is usually the day we get called in for a brief review of our performance and given a raise. So far today, nothing.

For me, this will make it four years in a row with no increase in pay.

How are you all making out?

I guess I have to consider myself lucky to have a job.

I keep wondering how may companies are using the excuse of "hard economic times" to keep from giving pay increases to their employees even though they are making a fairly decent profit.

I just got a raise couple months back ..and mi did get year end bonus too .funny a lawyer friend of mine who works with the state told me last week that he hasn't received one in four years. then again mi not making over 100K a year so mi guess fi mi 2 shilling a nuh nutten to dem

As far as I know, no one in my department has received a pay increase.

I've got one every year even during the recession. Never more than 3% though. Yes you can be grateful you have a job but don't let them take advantage of you. Willing to bet the CEO and senior level staff all got increases and maybe bonuses too. Even though I've gotten cost of living increase I kinda feel like they take my work for granted - they can and should do better by me - so 2012 goal is to launch out and spread my wings.

i think a lot of companies are using the excuse.

does you company disclose their financials?

I now consult with a non-profit so raises don't happen for me. But in a staff meeting recently, the head of the organization thanked staff for forgoing raises and bonuses over the past two years and let them know they are all getting raises this month

Got a pay increase but 2 weeks after it ratified the pension ppl send a notice say % contribution going up basically equivalent to the increase so it's all in the wash. Let's see what the new negotiations bring since them already start send out the budget argument already.

by di time dem settle dis contract it will be time fi negotiate a new one

BUT me a plan fi mek sure mi deh pan di negotiation committee fi di nex goh round because dese old people (long term employees) noh have a lick a sense.

i get a pay increase each year + an annual bonus.
the extra cash always makes a difference
not sure what this year will be since they backed out of the multi-million $ bid

My union no deh pon them tings deh... them no mind take things off the deal if them think it nah go happen and push for something else... eg ... our wage reopener for 2011-12 base on weh the province say bout money they werent going to risk getting into a long drawn out deal so them add on three paid days off to make up for the likkle raise...

Do they grant employees the courtesy of knowing they will not receive an increase? I know companies are taking advantage of the economy, but they should at least let employees know what the position is.

Since the recession, my company only skipped one year of raises. Fortunately for me, I received a promotion that year. But the year they skipped, they were just a follow-fashion. When they disclosed earnings, we had over one billion, yes with a<span style="font-weight: bold"> B</span> in cash reserves.

In 2009 dem did lay off people, not because we were in a crisis....according to dem 'they were being fiscally responsible' Dunno what that suppose to mean other than dem wanted to do what everybody else was doing....just cause they could. We had hit our revenue goal, earnings were up and as me mention we had nuff cash reserves. Oh and BTW, we nuh have no debt, other than monthly expenses, etc.

OK. I have looked at their Financial report.

Profits are down approx. 3% from 2010. So I guess that is the reason.
