This was not a JLP Argument. All the attack on Portia were attacks from her own Political Leadership.....KD, Peter, Peter Supporters, such as John Junior, Sharon Hay Webster and Maxine Henry Wilson plus Portia's own miscues.
It never bothered anyone the lies and misrepresentation told on Eddie Seaga and Bustamante.

Another reason the JLP lost is the failure to educate its own supporters. Since JLP as a Party, will never get its due in the mainstream media, the Party ought to maintain a constant propaganda unit that will inform Labourites of its history, its outlook and its plans and programmes.
Look at Tivoli since Eddie has built it, with all the trials and crosses it still has some of the best Sports and Cultural Teams in the entire Jamaica.
The JLP fail to embrace JLP successes at its own peril.

.from the early 90s for years and years dr dudd and I have a ongoing debate on here over that.. i was arguing that Jamaica should externalize the debt as much as possibe...dollarize the economy and then default on the debt. </div></div>

Even though I don't think the G2K is to be blamed for the JLP loss, I think they should disband or fire Seive-wrong! He is nothing but a Golding Lackey who never thought Mr. Golding did any wrong in the Dudus debacle.
Not only he was in charge of the JLP YouTube Channel and turned what was a valuable tool in organizing a response to the onslaught of Comrade junk into a ghost town, before finally filling it with Portia Videos.

The JLP did not take care of business and allowed Bruised Golding and his NDM imports to damage the Party. The one thing you could at least count from the JLP is economic management and while they did a better job than Comrades did over the 18 years they admitted to running the country into the ground, they kept kicking over the pint of milk they delivered.

I respectfully disagree with your article in today’s Observer regarding the JLP defeat.

The JLP’s defeat is mainly about the arithmetic of votes and the JLP’s lazy approach to voter registration and transportation logistics on Election Day.
I notice you and other analyst have not mentioned anything about role of Peter Bunting and his training as an engineer and understanding that it is the count of votes that matter in the end.
For example, the JLP knew they lost to Bunting by less than 500 votes in 2007, all the JLP had to do was to identify at least 2,000 of the 15,000 plus central Manchester voters who did not bother to vote, get them to register as party members and keep wooing them on a continuous basis for four years. Within this laziness to do the necessary hard work, is embodied the overall comp tempt and lack of understanding the JLP continues to show towards the people.

All people regardless of socio economical status need to be given a reason to come out and vote, they have to be approached door to door and the party message tailored for each door or type of voter.
Voter registration has to become a continuous exercise each month as voters die, migrate or move to new constituencies as their lives evolve.

Even here in Canada, it is the candidate that does the hard voter identification and accumulation work that wins. This favours the candidate that is either young (under 30) and has the time to invest or the candidate that is independently wealthy. The work includes raising funds for advertising, funding town hall meetings and refreshments (Yes rum, curry goat, Canadian bacon &amp; pan cakes), paying for call center staff and telephone banks in the days leading up to the election, transporting the elderly to polling stations.

Bruce Golding was not willing to build the NDW over a 22 year period like Lula de Silva of Brazil who took 22 years to build his party and eventually won state power in Brazil.
I experienced Bruce Golding’s lazy approach to politics as a member of the NDM in 1995. He set no voter registration goals or plans into action. He demanded no accountability from none of the NDM representatives.

The JLP will continue to lose elections if it does not do the hard work and chooses instead to be LAZY!!!!!

I agree with your friend's analysis but that was only one part of their problem. The article he is challenging made some credible points with regards to some weaknesses in the JLP's election bid..some of which JLP supporters have admitted to.

the JLP is in for a long time in the wilderness...they squandered a rare opportunity.

I forget who put forward the theory that the PNP are the &quot;natural governing party of Jamaica&quot; this theory seems to be more substantive as time passes.

I already told the JLP that publicly on their YouTube Channel after they won in 2007 (yes ....and I am a PNP Supporter). I told them that PNP Campaigns 24/7 365 (366 in Leap years), it would be better if the JLP setup a unit to continuously manage a <span style="font-weight: bold">Reelection Campaign</span> and <span style="font-weight: bold">Leadership Succession Planning</span>. .....Most of the Labourties did not agree with I.

During the said 2007 Campaign I told them that they were neglecting Sally Porteous and Bunting would beat her. I made the first pro-Sally video and after Mr. Bunting Campaign started gaining Mr. Severe-Wrong was writing to me asking for material on Bunting. So they have been making mistakes for eons and it became worse, not better after they won.
Can anyone say<span style="font-weight: bold"> hubris much</span>?

In any case even if they had it all perfect.
A. The Election was called too soon
B They made enough bad moves that on any given day was enough to vote them out of power.
C. G2K cannot shoulder the blame. No one elected G2K.

Well you can see what happened here. In 2007 a lot of folks stayed away from the polls as well.
The PNP was working from 2007, but a lot of protest voters (Manatt, Dudus, Economy, Civil Servants), were moved to register while at the same time other protest voters who voted for the JLP decided to stay home on account of the same reasons (Manatt, Dudus, Economy, Civil Servants), others were moved to register and ultimately voted.
The swing was against and away from the JLP, no doubt about it.
