Not the religious right, the tea party or those in the south. This is the so called "base" that got Dubya past Gore. Romney does not, for the most part, have their support.

Unlikely. Plus Romney "cutting loose" from Mormonism can't be done just like that. The Romney family is known as one of the "Mormon Elite". Their members can be found at the highest levels of the church going back many years now. And Mitt himself has, as I said before, been promoted to the Melchizedek priesthood. And he takes his faith very seriously.

the sense i get is the vast majority of the GOP support want anybody but Obama.

you get a different sense?

dont get that sense. While the crazy Limbaughish minions may spew their propoganda, it seems the ones that are aware of possessing a brain are aware that that the anti-tea party vote would overwhelm an right-extremist candidate and assure Obama a 2nd term..

When the ones with a brain are asked what they will do if one of the more extreme candidates is nominated i still am yet to hear one of them say vote for the incumbent..but maybe they will undercover.

it is a realistic expectation to hear a Republican say they'd vote for the Democratic incumbent?

While I dont hear any saying that they'd VOTE Obama (didnt expect to hear that), they do voice the concern that anyone of the remaining 'candidates" but Romney would most likely fail against Obama.

Well Frum did that and they fired him ..he still claims to be a republican but is on the fox news black list

I dont want to jinx anything but from what I see in terms of the grassroots support..it is still there. And some pgms are kicking in that is helping the middle class and home owners

Just re-financed under his HARP2 plan .. that brought me down to a 4.5% rate.. virtaully no closing cost... Money in my pocket and couple dollars off my mortgage. Mi tink di average smaddy dat having dem house under water going with this pgm gwine to be pleased with him

Nat to mention senior citizens who a get $250 check inna di mail due to HC reform.

Weh di GOP a offer (tax cut fi rich people) mi noh si how dat ago hole up gainst the Obama plans

...or stay home. The outcome would be the same..4 more years for Obama. I just wonder if the Republican base is really prepared to vote for <span style="text-decoration: line-through">Thomas Monson </span> Mitt Romney.

No president will ever do much, if anything, on his own. The people who paid to get him into power will pull the strings so if you are looking for militancy from Barack you may be disappointed.

He is controlled by the individuals that make up the 1% and they will always put their agenda first, namely to exploit the 99% as much as possible to gain even more wealth and power.

This whole "government of the people, by the people" thing mentioned in the Gettysburg address is a fairytale.
