There. I've spilled the beans. Let the puss out of the bag. Told the secret I've been keeping for the past week.
<span style="font-weight: bold">I'm running for election to City Council.</span>
The election packets were made available last Friday morning. I picked mine up early in the morning.
I have one third of the necessary signed petitions to get on the ballot already.
I have the basic necessary people for campaign staff.
I have a really nice space right in the middle of a great, easily accessible area donated to me (totally free) for my use as campaign headquarters and as a place to hold fundraiser dinners and other events. Large room with big round tables and chairs, kitchen, separate space to use as small office. This space has a long history here for just such use, over the decades of the last century plus, for many winning politicians' campaigns... it's happy space with lots of winning strategies soaked up into it's walls.
I have the guidance of a former City Council President/Councilwoman who is a multi-generational product of just one political family here. (Her uncle, great-uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather were all past City Councilmen... two were also past Mayors.)
As we say here in the Hat City: <span style="font-weight: bold">I'm in it to win it!</span>
So wish me luck...

what is you platform? when is di debate
to them! Being black can't hurt me in my city (duh!) and when I was asked for a reply I merely said, "I'm white, but if you insist upon treating me as black... go right ahead! All of you* are black. Almost all of my neighbors are black. I live in a city that is 85% black. So what? That can't hurt me."
