German in child porn case remanded
SVEN Littkowski, the German national believed to be the mastermind behind an alleged child pornography ring and fertility centre in Jamaica, was Tuesday remanded into custody when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The businessman was charged last Wednesday with three counts of possession of child pornography following his arrest during a police operation conducted at his home.
When Littkowski appeared in court, his lawyer Aon Stewart asked Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey to rescheduled the matter for January 23 in order for him to get further instructions from his client.
According to police reports, several computers and hard drives, on which sexually explicit photographs and videos of minors are allegedly stored, were seized during the operation carried out by personnel from the Denham Town Police Station.
It is also alleged that further investigation were done by detectives from the Organised Crime Investigation Division who reported that evidence has indicated that the accused illegally performed the duties of a doctor who could provide fertility treatment for women.
Some of the women have reportedly given statements to the police.
Two other men were also arrested in the operation but were not charged.
The accused was recently before the court for overstaying his time in the country and also for practising medicine without a licence. The latter case is still before the court where it is alleged that the accused injected a woman in her bottom, claiming he could enlarge it.
