Let me tell you how much I hate this behemoth of a wicked and disorganized bureaucracy …
I hate it so much that I'm tempted to post Mrs Holness's email & direct line office phone # here on this board!
My grandmother died many, many moons ago.
In July 2011 I went home with my Mom for a few weeks. While there, we visited my grandmother’s grave. The headstone is badly damaged – has been for a while now. My mom is going to have it replaced if it can’t be repaired.
My mom's memory not so as it was once upon a time. She and her brother (my uncle) are at odds over the date their mom died. Not the year or month – they know the year and month but there’s a disagreement over if it was like, the 21st or the 22nd.
I told them, <span style="font-style: italic">let’s just put the month and year </span>– but no, they want the “date of the day” as well.
I can understand that – fine.
So August 2011, I apply for a death certificate for my grandmother.
Let the games begin …

So I apply online.
Interestingly, the application process spits out 2 confirmation #s to me. Shoulda been my first warning.
Bam!! They take the money from my debit card asap.
Fine. No prob.
A few weeks go by – I hear nothing.
I can live with that. I’m not expecting peeps to drop everything and give me overnight or instantaneous results.
Then September rolls around. Hmmm – what’s going on I wonder … mid September, I give them a call. You dang well know that call alone cost a million dollars.
All yuh di deh ah call, is peer<span style="font-style: italic"> “please push this please push that” </span> and no matter what prompt you push, no one picks up. Even when you push 0 for the operator, it defaults back to the start of the menu loop.
I keep at this method for about 2 weeks or more. It’s like, I come into work, grab a cup of tea, boot up my computer – call the RGD. Everyday. Like clockwork.
Got to the point where I would end up just going thru and push EVERY option, just in the hopes that someone, <span style="font-weight: bold">anyone</span> would pick up. Like for example, if the prompt said,
“please push 7 for the janitor”, I’d push it.
Just DESPERATE for someone to pick up.
Nothing.
I mean - seriously ... I see letters in the paper often - hear peeps call in on the radio nearly everyday complaining about them but I guess I never really took it that seriously - never really thought it ws seriously, that bad ...Comment

But it gets better.
One morning in late Sept, it's 'crazy' time at work - so gearing up for the busy season in my industry, I come in a little early, I do my routine, grab my tea, call the RGD.
I don't know if it's because I was calling earlier in the morning than I had normally been doing - but somebody picks up ... !!!

never enter into any online transaction with yard. their IT is at least 15 years behind
If I have to deal with RGD, I choose a day, join the line, wait and be entertained with the cussing and fighting (bokkle and machette) that usually bruk out, wait for them to call my number, get my paper and leave. 10-4pm

my husband had to deal with them years ago over the internet... he ended up bombarding the departmental manager's email box with an influx of emails. Finally, someone from the RGD call the house number -- couldn't believe it. The guy made several calls and got everything straightened out.
Knowing my husband, he'll probably still have that guy's phone number and email. I'm going to search for it...Comment

mi understand u pain. mi father register mi wrong and wid all di hoops dem waan mi jump thru fi fix it, mi decide fi just keep on keeping on wid di wrong info on mi birth paper. too much hassle right now

I wont go into what i had to go through to get adale birth certificate ... and yes mi si down out there and tell them mi not leaving till me get it so if them want to look mi up in the building with mi young baby then so be it ... it was delivered the next day. them never have paper to print it on. Now it need likkle more criteria than going to the same church as smaddy fi be staff there and it would make a difference

RGD is a JOKE!!!
When we filed our initial fiance' petition we paid for 7 day "rush" service for the non-impediment form...
you know it took us FIVE MONTHS before we actually had the document in our hand???
You know WHY???
They delivered by Currier to the main post office in Lucea and never bother to tell us to meet the Currier!
For my husbands birth certificate - the Currier call one night after 7pm and tell him he must be in front of the Courts Store the next day between 8 and 9 to get his birth certificate!
The Courts Store??
a wha kind of official government business deliver like dat??? Dem fi do betta!
oh, have I heard some horror stories this past 2 years about RGD!
Yuri, the only way we were able to resolve our non-impediment issue (even after he made several trips there and they kept telling him it had been delivered) was by ME submitting a complaint via the website!
Ridiculous!

So it’s almost like the person picked up the phone accidentally! They were just as surprised to get me on the phone as I was to get them.
You know when you pick up the phone to dial same time as someone’s calling you kinda thing… ?
That seems like is what happen.
Anyway the gentleman who answered is Mr. Bogle. I tell him the story, give him the TWO application #s that their system issued to me when I applied.
He takes a few more details, promises to look into the matter and get back to me the next week. I asked him to please, please be sure to call me, even if it’s just to let me know what’s going on – if they are having a problem finding the certificate or registration of death, etc.
Sure enough, more than a week passes and I hear nothing from him.
It starts all over again. Back to the routine. Call call call – no one picks up. This goes on for weeks more – turns into months.
I try and track the application online using their system – it tells me that my application hasn’t been paid for so it wont be processed.
Wow.
Not paid for?

Pure joke business. Thru out this process, I’ve emailed to the address about 7 times – not once, not even 1 time, has anyone replied.
Fall comes along – it’s now November – I still keep up my routine – I call a few times a week. One day, again to my surprise, the operator picks up!
I ask to speak to someone about my application – she transfers me to a nameless voicemail box – I leave a message. 
Sure enough, I hear from no one.
Thanksgiving comes and goes.
Busy with the holidays, etc.
I don’t call as much – maybe twice a week now.
Christmas come around … more calling …

Nothing – zip – nada – no response from them.
After the new year, I started getting really ticked off. It’s like they just took my $55 and that’s it.
No way.
They don’t know me.
Wont worry get into how but I got a phone # of someone who works in the executive office.
Jan 6 and I call her - Ms Wilson.
I tell her the story. While on the phone, she looks up the application and tells me that it hasn’t been processed because I didn’t pay for it. I tell her I have my bank statement right here that shows the payment was completed.
She asks me to fax it to her along with all my other info and she’ll get back to me the next day.
I take her fax # and ask also, for her email address. She tells me they don’t have email addresses there.

Whatev …
I print out the application, gather my proof of payment, 2 pages of documentation of my trying to contact the RGD, and I fax it to her. A total of 4 pages …Comment
