Re: State of the Union
nice speech...sounds great;
as rome burned they still considered themselves a world power on the rise...and refused to examine their missteps or blunders....simply continued with them;
it's impossible to build america at home while maintaining empire abroad and using war to implement political & philosophical policy

I agree! Obama talks about an America where if you work hard, you can raise a family, buy a home, save to send your kids to college and maybe have a little bit left for retirement.
How is that going to happen when the companies that hire people are fleeing the country in search of cheap labour and the companies that still employ Americans want to pay them peanuts.
The new America is a country where people who have a college degree may have to work two, three or maybe four part-time jobs just to eat and keep a roof over their heads.
The empire is in decline, time for the president to have an adult conversation with the American people about the cold hard facts. Perhaps if he wins a second term and does not have to worry about re-election, we will see a different president with a much more sobbering message.

And if you had listened without bias you would have heard the President address those very concerns. The system is set up to reward companies that do that madniss all in the name of increasing the bottomline and lining the pockets of CEOs. Did the President not say Congress needs to get rid of those loop holes and reward companies that invest in the country??
Did the President not just recently propose legislation that would make it much harder to declare war on other countries (which the Congress nat even bat dem yeye afffa)
I say all of that to say, the president can only do so much on his own. That is why I d o not like the political structure in this country. It is one Mangled MESS!!
Note: When Barack tell Congress fi call out who a do inside trading, di whole room waan duck unda dem chair.

I agree with you about the president's power being limited. I like Obama, but even within his own party he is limited to what he can and can not accomplish.
He, (President Obama) has his hands well tied from friend and foe alike.

I pray you are right!!!
But nothing would surprise me. Even though Obama inherited the mess we are in, the Republicans will point out at every turn that he owns the troubles Americans find themselves in. Hopefully the dumbed down population will see through the deception and vote with their brains.
