FLINT (WJRT) -
(01/24/12) - Police have identified the victim as 32-year-old Dustin Newton.
Newton died Tuesday morning after being shot by his girlfriend.
Investigators say she said it was an accident.
She, according to police, thought she was shooting an intruder.
It happened at a home in the 1000 block of Bradley, near Reynolds and Corunna, on the city's westside, just before 8 a.m.
She called 911.
The couple had a child together, according to the victim's sister and police.
The victim's sister, who did not give her name and declined an on-camera interview, said her brother was a "great guy" who delivered for a local soft drink company.
A delivery truck was parked, nearby, on Corunna Road until about 10:30 a.m.
Police remained on scene past noon.
No one else was in the home.
The woman was taken to the police department for questioning and released.
Police continue to investigate.
