Nelson wanted to know how much money the director had earned for his anti-communist bestseller "Masters of Deceit." He asked about Hoover's armored cars and his office carpeting.

He also inquired about Hoover's confidant, Associate FBI Director Clyde Tolson, including whether Tolson had worked on the book on bureau time. Hoover and Tolson, both bachelors, were inseparable, lunching every noon at the Mayflower Hotel. They were rumored to be lovers.

Biographers and historians have yet to resolve conflicting accounts of Hoover's sexual orientation. There is no indication Nelson had any interest in the subject, and he never wrote about it. Nevertheless, he became the focus of Hoover's anxieties.

<span style="font-size: 14pt">As he had done with other perceived enemies, Hoover began compiling a dossier on the reporter.</span>John Fox, the FBI's in-house historian, said Nelson arrived on the scene at a time when Hoover was feeling vulnerable. A published report that the director was gay could well have ended his career, and that possibility — unfounded or not — had Hoover on edge.

The idea was to catch the Klan in the act of preparing to bomb a Jewish leader's home. But the operation went awry, ending in a gun battle in which local police killed one of the Klan members, a woman. The FBI denied any role in the affair.

So the FBI were directed to stop the KKK bombing a Jew, but didn't give two F when the Klan were bombing black people.

a determined prosecutor can do a lot...
people who have never been in the system do not have a clue just how the system operates..
i grew up around plenty of drug dealers & murderers...if a determined prosecutor wanted to, i could be in prison right now, just from in the circles i have walked...

just like a white person living in a gated community all their lives would scoff at the notion that police can be corrupt & lawless...ask an inner-city black youth the same question you would get a totally different answer...the person who has never experienced thinks it's unbelievable...while the person who lives it knows it is a reality...
this is very similar to the guys in newburgh, ny convicted of terrorist plot to blow up synagogues...
the fbi needed a case to justify their anti-terror campaign so the went out and created some guys...getting an agent to constantly push the men into something;

or ask the young men convicted by the ny media and then the court for the central park jogger...

the whole world was satisfied that justice had been done-- only problem is years later the real attacker confessed and everyone had egg on their faces;

what can a determined prosecutor do??

if i'm not mistaken, an undercover fbi agent was actually at the scene when the klan murdered the kids that inspired the movie "mississippi burning"

There is a difference between being framed and being setup. I could be framed - somebody could plant my finger prints or DNA evidence at a crime scene to make it look like I was a participant in a crime where I was not even present. But I could not be setup the way Juju was set up here. No sah and mi naw say mi perfect either. I wonder if someone engaged Buju in a $$$ for a contract for hire killing - I wonder how many hypothetical 'just for talk' discussions him would have with the person before running the other way. Buju allowed himself to be tempted by the prospect of easy money and get himself mixup. A just so me see it.

I am not a lawyer so I'm not going to comment on the legality or illegality of what happened. But a black man, who a kotch in a Babylon land, need to sprint hard and fast when him see evil coming. Don't engage it, don't pet it just sprint the other way.

millions were spent and the ex-drug dealer the gov't hired was paid at least $50,000.

he has become a millionaire working for the gov't...he got that job after facing a life sentence for drug dealing; decided to become gov't informer and has been making a handsome living setting people up for the gov't;
he had a finacnial incentive to have buju taken down, hence his persistence in contacting buju even after buju had refused to speak to him for months...

why is the gov't trying to get someone to buy drugs?
is that their function?
