I'll comment on the review on the weekend. Note the time....jet lag still a lick me. Forced myself to stay up all day yesterday but crashed a 9 PM and woke up 6 hours later.

I want to comment when I am fully alert.

i read it. nicely done. wrt to trollope's prejudices, i'm tempted to think he's overcompensating for having a name synonymous with a loose woman, lol.

i've been wanting to read &quot;dead yard&quot; because of all the hype around it, u know how it go, they ban a book in jamaica and u immediately think its because the home truths hit too close. kind of like how v.s. naipaul became persona non grata in india after he wrote those scornful accounts of his travels in that country.

but fledgist's analysis gives me pause. i confess surprise that the author of dead yard spent a lot of time talking with white jamaicans. my own lickle prejudices make me assume that of course the book would be alrite then, caw it would be giving the pov of the ruling class, so it being banned in jamaica is not quite computing for me in that respect.

couple people were mentioned that i know and have personally met, including Arthur Newland, who when i learned he became a bobo shanti, was both unexpected and expected.
