no he should not be named a 'national hero'...

it would be too hypocritical of the government...
he is already a hero to the people and his message is already know by the people...
they do not need the gov't to certify or endorse him to know that;

as far as your argument about what he did for jamaica is not worthy enough; i think that's a dubious argument...it can actually be argued that marley did more for jamaica than marcus garvey...yet garvey is a national hero...
most of garvey's impact on jamaica came after his death;
garvey actually had a bigger impact on america, yet he will never be named a national hero of america;

the real common people don't need governments to tell them who their heroes are

Definitely not. True he was an incredibly gifted musician but he was also a terrible role model with his ganja smoking and womanizing. He didn't make contributions to build up the nation like the other National Heroes.

well it can be argued that marley made jamaica a more popular tourust destination and popularized the jamaican art form reggae music...

marcus garvey led the largest mass black movement america had ever seen...but his effect on jamaica was limited during his lifetime and his greatest works were not actually done in jamaica;

No but he should be considered a womanizer. Not condoning what he did but at least he was discrete and didn't humiliate his wife with affairs in the public arena. Were it not for the wiretaps we would never have known abou this. Still doesn't make it right. He also didn't have a string of children with other women. He also did a lot for Black liberation. What did Bob Marley do other than write some awesome songs and give some incredible concerts? No way should he be recognized as a national hero...and I am unanimous about that.
