5.9% of population, or 92,800 Jamaicans, has alcohol-related problems.
7.9% of population, or 124,000 Jamaicans, has drug-related problems.
11.9% of population, or 187,100 Jamaicans, has either alcohol or drug-related problems, or both.

Are the stats related to the entertainers in the entertainment industry or the general population? It seems it relates to teh general population yet the article discusses entertainers? What is the message the article is trying to make

More of today's youth are experimenting with drugs, with an increase in the use of ecstasy and heroine. That is the word from the National Council on Drug Abuse (NCDA), which says the trend has been continuing since the last survey done six years ago.

&quot;What we are seeing over time is that the age of initiation where the young person starts to experiment with drugs is getting younger and younger,&quot; Michael Tucker, executive director of NCDA, told The Gleaner.

Again, the quality of editorial work in the Jamaican media disappoints me. I should hope that the young people are interested in heroines especially Nanny of the Maroons.
