I believe &quot;bin&quot; designates 'son of ', so the name is an expression of his lineage, showing he can trace his line back so many generations.

I've recently relocated to Saudi Arabia. A about a week and a half in my manager asked me to minute a meeting up until this point I hadn't minuted a meeting - for others to officially read at least - for almost 12 years.

At one point they were discussing an event and naming the attendees... Laawd! By the end of the meeting - which went on for HOURS I was

Luckily my boss saw the funny side. Actually, come to think of it I think he did it on purpose! Anyway, almost 3 months in and I'm still with some of the names!

Yes bin means son of in Arabic cultures and ben means son of in the Hebrew culture.

Yup been there....I got coaching before I flew over there but it was still a struggle. You'll find a guy has a really elaborate sounding name and he turns out to be a quiet unassuming fellow.
