Help finding cemeteries?!?!?

Hi Everyone! Believe it or not I am here in Jamaica doing research on cemeteries and burial grounds (preferably old ones,1700s- 1950s... and of different groups here in JA including African, Jewish, Chinese, East Indian, etc). I am having trouble locating burial sites that are not connected to a church. Can anyone direct me to any cemeteries or burial grounds not connected with a church? I just want to take a look (I am observing what direction people are buried in and what their marker (if they have one) looks like).

Any information will be SSSSOOO appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Given your time-frame, and your desire to find cemeteries not affiliated with churches, I would think the vast majority of the cemeteries were affiliated with churches, otherwise bodies were most likely buried at the family plot.

I asked so that I could locate the cemeteries and pass on the coordinates. For example my Google Earth shows that the Chinese Cemetery is located at approximately 17°59'36.11&quot;N 76°48'42.59&quot;W along Waltham Park Road.

Thank you for all of the responses. It has been a struggle locating these sites which has suprised me also. After speaking with a professor at UWI I came to understand a little bit better, as he explained that people in Jamaica have strict beliefs regarding burial sites and don't necessarily have them on the forefront of there mind, hence no one's ability to recall sites outside of church yards. I came to the forum to reach out to the true community within Jamaica (not that UWI is not the true community, but I think you understand what I mean) and am so glad I did.

I am aware of the Chinese and Jewish cemeteries. Does anyone know of any old East Indian or African sites? Also, I do have access to google maps and zillow. I will try them both. Thank you all again for any information you have.

It was a popular Indians ritual to form a procession to thr beach where they would take their dead by boat to sea and light it o a makeshift raft. As far as people of African decent is after slavery family plots on the premises was the way. Snd later the public and church cemetaries. I am not aware of any seperation of African burials similar to the Chinese and jewish.
Both the chinesr and jewish were free to practice their religion.Since they were a dmall minority. but the authorities violently suppressed that in tge African case.
Tgey had allow fir burisl of the dead. While tgey reserved space in tge cemeteries they couldnt persistently prevent yhem from butials dince there were much mux marriages and family had more influence than race.
It was easier for authorities to exclude the Jewish and Chinese from burials thsn Africans since there were less intermarriages with those groups snd they were smsll in numbers relatively.

there is one in kingston going by old harbour way up on a hill.. I want to say shooters hilll but not sure. that is not affiliated with a church.

...and the Cholera Cemetery at the corner of Waterloo and West Kings House Roads. There are other cholera cemeteries.
