well first of all lonrwolf I am white so i'm not in the demographic represented by the statistics you mention.

2nd, as others have stated, which you<span style="font-style: italic"> cannot</span> seem to follow -- or just stubbornly refuse to acknowledge - <span style="font-style: italic">even</span> after skelly's awesomely articulate, eloquent comment above --- is that the statistic you keep repeating may indeed be accurate, but it does NOT pertain to what is being discussed in this thread.

the discussion here is in reference to the the SPECIFIC circumstances regarding what occurred IN THIS INSTANCE. you keep trying to talk about oranges, when what we're talking about here, is apples.

and if you still can't, or won't, get that - even after all the explanation and discussion, there is nothing i can say that will have you understand the point that is being made by that photo.

Lornwolf, honestly when I first read your thread, I wanted to cuss you UNDER the table, however, I try real hard not to respond when I am emotional, especially when I am angry. I cant seem to articulate my thoughts in a respectful way when I am angry.

Lornwolf you certainly are entitlled to your opinion, I believe that you stated in a earlier post that you felt this was wrong, however, I agree with Skelly, it was insensitive for you to come into this thread (although you have a right to say what you want) throwing ish at black on black crime when that is not the issue of this thread. Trayvon IS DEAD...What difference does it really make the skin color of the murderer.

MURDER is MURDER regardless of the color of the skin of the victim and the perpertrator. Whispering a racist slur under your breathe before you kill someone? Zimmerman pulled out the race card. When the race card is pulled then we all know the murder goes to another level and mostly all are offended, black, white,brown and purple for their own reasons. I understand that.

At the end of the day this 17 yr old child was hunted down like a DOG! The institution let the MURDERER off the hook. The POLICE basically told his parents GDAB! That my friend is adding salt to the wound, again taking the murder to another level for most. I understand that also.

This murder reeks of INJUSTICE and that burns me. IF the situation was reversed and the victim was the murderer and the murderer was the victim, the Police would have reacted in a different fashion, and we all know this to be true. Trayvon would be on death row by now.

The system is unfair to BLACKS period and I for one am sick and tired of being sick and tired, Hence, the uproar. I am proud of his parents for their tenacity in getting national media attention in the process of grieving for the loss of their child. Trying to make sense out of nonsense. That must be more painful to have to keep reliving this day in and day out. A bad dream that will not go away.

A man can go to jail for killing dogs but their sons life is worth less than that of an ANIMAL! Modern day Lynching and for that I hope and pray that people continue to be outraged, stand up and get JUSTICE.

This would be funny if it weren't so sad. The number one threat of death of a young black male in the US is from another young black male. That's a fact you cannot dispute.
It's not from the police or a white racist or for that matter a hispanic neighbor hood patrol nutcase.

Why is it that hundreds if not thousands of young black males are murdered each year in the US by other young black males and you all convienently ignore that issue, but this issue causes such a stir?

While I absolutely agree that the murder of Trayvon should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I also feel that incidents like this are unjustly thrown in the face of white people as some how being responsible simply because they are white.

CNN revealed a telling piece of information Friday that has been missed by many of the media outlets covering the slaying of 17-year old Trayvon Martin by a neighborhood watch captain on Feb. 26.

&quot;The portrayal of George Zimmerman in the media, as well as the series of events that led to the tragic shooting, are false and extremely misleading,&quot; his father, a retired magistrate judge, wrote in a letter published in the Orlando Sentinel. &quot;Unfortunately, some individuals and organizations have used this tragedy to further their own causes and agendas.&quot;

&quot;George is a Spanish-speaking minority with many black family members and friends,&quot; Robert Zimmerman wrote. &quot;He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever.&quot; (Emphasis added.)

Might this explain why, when he was first taken to police headquarters on Feb. 26, the lead investigator wanted to bring charges against Zimmerman, saying he was unconvinced of the 28-year old's description of events.

ABC News reports:

The lead homicide investigator in the shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin recommended that neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter the night of the shooting, multiple sources told ABC News.

But Sanford, Fla., Investigator Chris Serino was instructed to not press charges against Zimmerman because the state attorney's office headed by Norman Wolfinger determined there wasn't enough evidence to lead to a conviction, the sources told ABC News.

According to Think Progress, Wolfinger has since removed himself from the case.

Was Wolfinger doing a favor for a retired judge? The blog Hinterland Gazette believes that may be the case.

This from someone who reportedly was attacked and whose head was bashed into a pavement and nose broken by a suspicious looking teenage thug.
