can be solved....search out india for a similar delicacy...if none found, then that means less likely it is purely of indian origin &amp; more likely it is a jamaican origin...influenced possibly by the early spanish, taino &amp; maroon &amp; other afrikans...possibly indian influence as well;

after all it is jamaican patties that are famous--- not indian patties...
i include the spanish because they were the first european colonizers of the island and the spanish-speaking islands have the similar empanada to this day...

8 months now mi deh yah and nat a patty pan, crust, bax, NADA nutten dat look like a close relative do I find anywhere!! plus dem huh nyam beef (in public) - so I highly doubt the origins was from anywhere in this region...
Plus like how dem love claims up tings mi sure sumaddy woulda did step farwud and claims that honor arredi - just saying

The fact that Patty was called Patty and nothing else from early on hints at were the major influence came from. The Turn Over in a bread was called Meat loaf.
The rest of the composition hints at who or where in Jamaica it came from.

I am guessing Westmoreland.
Some cook Black or Indian brought it out of massa kitchen and it got perfected over the years.

Another Patty that has disappeared is Angel Flakes Patty, which was a direct competitor to Tastee. It was bigger, flakier and had curry in it.
