Question for xigaM & Other Pilots

Last time when I was heading towards your neck of the woods, I asked a pilot this question. He complimented me said it was a great question and that no one had every asked him that before.

I'll give you his answer but I want you to take a crack at it first. Ready:

That's exactly what your fellow pilot told me.


Because of gavity it all spins together otherwise we would start the day with Toronto weather, have Paris' and Monaco's weather in about 6 hours, and the weather of Nukus, Karakalpakstan in Uzbekistan after about 12.

Next questions.

Why don't cities at the same latitude have the same weather?

Why don't pilots just fly to the latitude of their destination, fly up, up, up above where gravity is in force, hover, wait for the earth to spin and come back down in time to land at their destination?

I should have asked these questions when I was dung soh with a room full of Jamaican pilots. Dem would a seh &quot;She mad to rahtid! Is one mad ooman dis!!&quot;

Climate is influenced by more than just location. Since the majority of Earth is water, it has an effect on climate. Mountains, elevation, wind patterns all play a role. The sandy surface here will heat up differently from the woods of Ontario.

Because the technology to do so is not there. Once it's relatively safe and affordable then we're have orbittal travel.

And it won't work as you've described it. If you go up over Toronto and wait for Dubai to spin under you (Earth spins Eastbound) you will have to wait for 15hours!!! The flight today takes 12hrs so there's no benefit. You'll have to launch into orbit and fly to where you want to go.

E.G. Trade winds have an impact on Jamaica's weather. Also, topography counts. So the rock and stone mountains of Oman are like absorb heat and make the place like a blast furnace from My to late September.

and I thought for sure I was on the verge of inventing new technology and a way fi get rich.

Richard Branson is working on space travel but not orbital travel. Ever thought of applying for that or is it a different skill set?

Maybe while in Toronto yu tek an elevator up to supem like a subway station an den yu wait fi a subway like ship to pull up (I'm sure they will have shopping malls and Starbucks up deh so yu spen aff yu money while yu wait) , den yu jump on di subway ship and tek it to the another location's elevator (stopping at scheduled stops along the way) , then when you get to the elevator yu want you press G (fi ground level) and next ting you know you are in Dubai or wherever.

The elevator idea has merit. Did you design that Milo?

Let's see how would this work.

You take the elevator then you hop on a shuttle that will fly to your chosen destination and compensate for the spinning of the earth. As xigaM pointed out, just to hover and wait for the earth to spin would take too long.

This more relates to space travel but the same principle could apply. I am disappointed though, I thought xigaM had invented the term Orbital Travel.....I like it:

That elevator Milo invent that go up, then you wait all day for Earth to spin into place some like a low-cost version. Something like Spirit Galactic.

For reasons you pointed out, Milo's version would be much too slow. The elevator needs to lead up to a platform where you board a vehicle for orbital travel that compensates for the spinning of the globe and lands on the platform for your destination. I think we are on to something.
