my sister taught me the basic stitches, knit an purl wen i was about 12...she used knitting to relax while in 6th form...i taught miself the rest....i will open mi pm fi u...if u want go to this website..dem have pictorial and cd instructions, showing u how to cast on etc...r u in Canada? if so i have sooo many instruction books i can share one wid u.....i would recommend dat u start using bamboo needles...the yarn stays on much better and u wont get easily frustrated....

I've been wondering about what guide books I should be so I can teach myself but will for sure start with the learning center first.

it is really easy...is just two basic stitches...knit an purl ...use the learning center...the pictorials r a big help...after learning the stitches then u need to learn tension...just in crocheting, u can mek ur stitches too loose r too tight...but learn to knit by buying some cotton yarn, cast on about thirty n knit on one side, purl on the other and make urself a washrag...good luckComment

ooh...jealous...u r in NY where Lionbrand has their showroom...am coming there this summer with mi sister for a medical conference..well she going di conference, mi tagging on ...
...am looking forward to dat trip to the Lionbrand store...and Vogue , yes, theeeeee Vogue has a two day knitting conference in late January in NY....they also publish their own knitting patterns which r the bomb....matter of fact, all yarn companies now have websites wid free patterns to go wid dem yarns...u have a lot to look forward to...
this is the website for the NY studio http://www.lionbrandyarnstudio.com/...they even have workshops and classes...ooohhh i am soooo jealous....nothing like sitting down with other knitters...most yarn shops owned by individuals have that ...where women meet n learn to knit from each other...they had that in LR n i have found one in a town about 20km from where i live..funny ting is dat wen i first walked in they looked at me funny but since they found out i am a serious knitter it has been fabulous...the owner will even offer to bring stuff to me....
