The Government has revealed it has no intention of continuing to bring in senior police officers from the United Kingdom (UK), as it has done in recent years, to assist their Jamaican counterparts in crime-fighting and other law-enforcement endeavours.

That's the word from National Security Minister Peter Bunting.

Speaking with The Gleaner yesterday, Bunting said the almost decade-old programme had served its purpose.

I never did understand those all-expenses paid trips for British policemen to have a couple of meetings, then spend two weeks sitting on a beach and drinking lager.


You don't have senior, experienced policemen in Jamaica?

I'm sure the British officers will be up in arms over losing the perks of a paid Caribbean holiday. And some colonial minded Jamaicans will miss receiving them.
