Overall, it is a documentary well worth seeing.
Historical footage is a gift. I especially liked those of the One Love Peace Concert when MM and ES were shamed into coming on stage with Bob.
Interviews with members of the ‘Marley and Plant’ construction family in JA whose father/uncle Bob had gone to one day for help were very interesting. As was the back story about his visit to the clinic in Germany. Was not aware of that amount of detail before.
Did not get enough Peter Tosh or Joe Higgs.
Cindy had more screen time than I expected. Her statement that she didn’t know he was married (at least 10 years when they met, and, already had three children together) was not credible IMHO.
Would have liked to have heard more from the kids. Cedella seems to have had a lot more to say. Seemed angry. Was it edited out? I don’t know.
Rita was regal. There was pain when asked about Bob and the other women but she took the high ground. Unlike his lawyer who was offensive IMHO, saying that Rita did not “own” Bob.
If you knew nothing about Jamaica before seeing this movie you would not have come away from seeing it knowing that much more. As is the custom when others tell our stories for us, too much of the rest of it was drawn in broad stereotypes and caricatures.
