No, I did not win my election, but I did rather well for a complete unknown newbie.
I was a great 'spoiler' for two incumbent councilmen I dislike... one whom I really dislike intensely in fact. I unseated one At-Large Councilman, and I prevented the one I dislike intensely from his first election as Council Member At-Large... although he still has two years left to his second term as the West Ward Councilman.
I did a lot of 'damage'. dwl
I came very close to getting as many votes as two incumbents; I didn't do too badly in comparison with another opponent (he's a lifelong born-and-raised in our city man). I needed half again as many votes as I got to catch up to the three winners and have won a City Council seat for myself. I got more votes than two of the mayoral candidates... and one of those is a sitting incumbent Councilman! I got nearly half as many votes as the winner of our mayoral race... and just over half as many as our incumbent mayor (who lost, came in second place). So I didn't do too badly, really.
Our four Ward Council seats are up for grabs in 2014 (two years). I live in the West Ward, so I am eligible to run for West Ward Council seat then. I intend to do just that, and to continue to raise funds and campaign and work hard towards that election, beginning now.
