I am not making pronouncements. I am asking questions as I don't know much about this.

My first question was why Guzoo is called Guzoo. I remember once I was in Jamaica walking up the same road where my grandmother lived in the country. There was a house with lions and flags. I asked my dad what that was and he said it's the obeahman's yard where people go for Guzoo. It was the first I had heard that term. I didn't think to ask why it was called Guzoo at the time. Alas my dad has since passed on so I can't ask him and the question popped into my mind when makabush brought up myalism. I remembered the distinctions that Barrett made between myalism and obeah in his book so I dug it up and shared it.

That's the extent of my knowledge so I will not be making any pronouncements on this topic. Only asking questions.

still I read on here tha Dutty Boukman sold his soul to the Devil because he subscrie to these ancient divine manifestation... and because of this was the reason why Haiti is such a mess.....

also one reason why Cudjo and Quao was not national heros because they gave adhedance to these concepts,,,,,

I remember reading that the reason Anansi - the trickster - became so important in our culture is that during slavery, active resistance had dire consequences so our ancestors really had to use their wits. As I have dialogue with people from other cultures, they have told me that they also have the trickster in their mythology. Native North American and Japanese immediately come to mind. In Japanese folklore, for example, the pig is considered to be the smartest animal in the barnyard as he finds a way to get all the other animals to do his work so that he can lay about all day.

the concept of trinity is Yamoja Ogun and oshun.

Myal and Obeah are different iterations of a base concept. Alot of west african religions have similar or near identical beleifs and myths. Jamaican Obeah is more fundanmental of African and Taino construct. Myal is less esoteric, more accessible. While Obeah gives men communication with the super natural and the intercidance on the part of the obi in this universe. Myal is like a church of england.

The obeah gods gave nothing for free. They demand for their influence to change. They wanted. Blood rum gunpowder.

Myal has the same gods but one does not give the viseral sinews that obeah demand. Knowing that Boukman went to the ancient gods and paid the price. Eshu like Loki or Hades are not evil. just different.

But I am Taino, we no nothing I dont exist and beleive the gods are dead. unless they are all eshu.

Yes, the trinity is one of the oldest pagan beleifs that is not taught in the Bible, but is followed by many denominations. This is all very complicated Wahalla. I guess to the people with these beliefs it's not complicated.

No one ever said Taino do not exists. History books said they were only 78 left in Jamaica when the Spanish did their census 50 years or so after their arrival in Jamaica. For this reason, it's hard to believe any 100% pure Taino of Jamaican origin survived into the 20th century. I grant you some Taino could have migrated to Jamaica from other islands. It only takes one family.
