"Secondly, there are definitely no laws against noise levels. I’m not 100% sure why … actually I’m not even 10% sure why, but our neighbour insists on blaring love ballads at least four mornings per week at about 7am. Like, I seriously think he’s snuck into my room and installed some invisible speakers somewhere, its just that loud. Sometimes he’s even got some good tunes going, <span style="color: #FF0000">like old school Whitney Houston, Boys II Men, Shania Twain, or even Celine Dion (but more on Jamaica’s Celine Dion obsession another day … I’m not even kidding, they worship her here</span> … ) but at 7am, not so good! Or he’s got dancehall blaring and is singing at the top of his lungs … we’re considering investing in singing lessons for him, its just that bad! He, or one of his roomies, also has a MAJOR snoring problem … I’ve never heard anything like it! (Matty P., that was for you! xo). We also hear various other noises at all times of day, such as goats, crickets, cicadas, dogs, cats, birds, people walking by and talking or singing, music playing from various parties, super loud cars and bikes driving on the main road nearby because apparently Jamaicans don’t like mufflers on vehicles … church services (also unbelievably loud … I’m not a church go-er, but from the amount of services I’ve listened to from the balcony, I feel as though I’m becoming one!) … and much, much more. Silence is hard to find in Jamaica."</span>
