Mum faces firing squad for smuggling coke

Four Britons, including a 55-year-old housewife, face death by firing squad after allegedly smuggling cocaine on to the Indonesian island of Bali.

Lindsay Sandiford, originally from Redcar in the North East, was picked up by police after carrying 4.7kg (11lbs) of cocaine in the lining of her suitcase as she arrived at the airport in Bali’s capital city Denpasar from Bangkok on May 19.

While I don't support the firing squad for that type of offence, she is just plain stupid. When you go into these countries that have these strict and yes over the top policies, it's stamped right on your landing card that drug trafficking and smuggling are punishable by death at a firing squad. It's on the card and you have to sign it. She must have the IQ of a head of cabbage to attempt to bring coke into a country like that. She is a bleeding jackass...that's for sure.

sounds like the law-makers there are fanatics...

i would be curious to know how many top officials or businessmen &amp; other money types also dabble in the substances that they deem punishable by death for the general population...

i won't hold my breath waiting for them to give up that info

Like Tropi said, she would have been warned. Unless she is a total simpleton who was duped, I don't feel sorry for her.

I think of all the lives she may have helped to destroy if that coke had made it through.

In todays Metro her neighbours are having a party, they say she was the neighbour from hell, and were laughing and cheering when they saw her on TV, and mocking her when she hid her face, 'we know its you, you dirty whore' they said the house was reposessed but she was still there, having men turn up all night..........

yes it is imperative to know the laws of a country before visiting...although most humans with common sense know there will be penalties for unauthorized drug trafficking

and mine how yu dress tuh...

mi nuh have an ounce a sympathy for her. that is just for show. her govt. will intervene on her behalf and she will end up serving out her time in jail, as opposed to a firing squad.
