Ottawa police say what appears to be a human foot was delivered in a bloody box to the headquarters of the governing Conservative Party on Tuesday.
Authorities say they were called to the downtown Albert Street offices at 11:20 Tuesday morning.
“Upon arrival, officers noted that the ... package had blood stains on it,” the Ottawa Police Service said in a release.
“The Hazmat Unit and Emergency Operations section were called and upon further inspection of the package it was determined that there was possibly a human foot in the box,” the police said.
Conservatives remained mum on the matter.
“A suspicious package was sent to our office,” Tory spokesman Fred DeLorey said. “The Ottawa police are investigating. All questions should be referred to them.”
Paramedics and police were called to Conservative headquarters after someone reported feeling nauseous in the office.
About 10 people in the area of the package were briefly isolated while a Fire services hazardous-materials team investigated it to see whether it represented a health hazard. The haz-mat team determined it was not
