by renouncing faith in a system that tells you to bend over and take it up the rear except for every few years you can go into a booth and pick some guy (or gal)'s name and they will make life better for you...

it eventually makes you a spectator on the sidelines...
america's entire political system is now quite obviously (to anyone paying attention) irreversibly broken...and must be completely overhauled..starting with the electoral college concept

still not seeing how the power is achieved?

i think you focus too much on the election of the president. thsink about all the other offices up for grans that day that more closely affect your day to day life.

because the wide spread attitude that my vote does not matter anymore the system has fallen victim tot he special interest. these small groups can swing the election.

look at any election that brought in a candidate of real change and you will see it was because voter turn out was high.

for what its worth I think you do yourself and your community a great disservice by staying home and encouraging others to stay home too

i don't encourage anyone to stay home...they have been doing that on their own--- in ever increasing numbers;
voter turnout in american elections is always embarrassingly low;

could it be the population is on to something?
people can feel when they are being scammed...

the voting system we currently have may have worked in the 1700's and 1800's when only white male property owners could vote, but in the 21st century it is a joke

politician have to bow to any group who can mobilize a block of voters

when you proselytize that the system is rigged and its a waste of time to vote don't you think you are encouraging others not to bother vote?

actually voter turn out has been pretty much the same for a long time ...so the myth of ever increasing numbers in just that.

The numbers speak for local elections

i am not able to see what difference they have made in the community;

i keep hearing that this is how we make a difference...i keep seeing the empty suits filling those positions...yet the community has only changed for the worse...decades and counting...
so tell me again what good these guys are doing?

maybe that's not so bad;
can't be worse than what we have right now-- runaway corporate despotism...
doesn't matter who you vote for because he will be owned by some moneyed force...
he will bend to the influence of the money-holders, not the common people-- it is all too clear to see, but we humans can be ostriches with our head in the sand
