Jamaicans,

I urge all Jamaicans to PAY NO MIND to Chris Rock and his words. Believe me, he's not important, he's NOT a member of the US State Dept, and Jamaica's reputation will NOT be affected, better or worse, by anything he says.

This much can be said about Jamaica's crime problems----it CAN be solved---it's simply a matter of political will from the top. And if Jamaica's leadership would do the right things, Jamaica would prosper.

Jamaica should indeed deal with the crime problem, for the sake of JAMAICANS, not just for tourists---Jamaicans have a right to know that their country ie safe for them to live. With the right policies, Jamaica CAN BE such a country.

It's my hope, as Jamaica approaches he 50th year of independence, that Jamaica will soon become that little island of opportunity for her people----that Island of peace and prosperity.

The rankings are as follows, with the name of the country followed by the number of homicides per 100,000 population.

Safest Caribbean nations:

1.Martinique: 4.2
2.Anguilla: 6.8
3.Antigua &amp; Barbuda: 6.8
4.Guadeloupe: 7
5.British Virgin Islands: 8.6
Most Dangerous Caribbean nations:

1.<span style="font-weight: bold">Jamaica: 52.1 (Crime rates have decreased nearly 10% from 2009. Also, it is noted that violent crimes rarely occur to visitors)</span>
2.Saint Kitts and Nevis: 38.2 (Again, most violent crimes involve locals)
3.Trinidad and Tobago: 35.2 (No evidence that tourists are being targeted directly)
4.Bahamas: 28 (Majority of crimes take place in the most populated areas; New Providence and Grand Bahama)

I wonder how frequently we feature in those crime stats.

I've heard that Jamaicans are involved in criminal activities in the other islands out of proportion to our numbers in these countries but I'm not sure if this is true.

We can be very troublesome people though.

but outdide of overstaying and working illegally they couldn't support it with fscts. Same with Barbados and the other islands.
