I disagree with alot of his interpretations but he is an example of a person who makes learning cool.....

The El Portal, Florida figures don't sound right. I know the area and not sure alot of Jamaicans live there.

Well I never knew it. You mean it's the Jamaican blood that makes him fiery? To be honest, I have never listened to him. I liked Malcolm though who also had Caribbean blood as did Stokely Charmichael and believe it or not I read somewhere WEB Dubois. Not sure if it's true re: WEB Dubois.<span style="font-style: italic">His father-descended from mulatto slaves in Haiti-deserted his mother.</span>

Ur surprseTropi is surprising...Given in ur profile thatu are a student of West indian history.. The West Indies have contributed alot to the worlds personaility especially yhe united states.. For instance the witches at the Salem trials were from Barbados!

West Indians have been in the united states goverment from Alexander Hamilton to Holder... Rice I beleive has some West Indian antecidents.. Leon Panetta is of Trinidad according to some Trinis I know...

Madam Sun Yat Sen was a Trini... Ruben Blades glories in his St Lucian mother...Denmark Vesey was from St Thomas hence the name..

Most of the participants of the Harlem Rensance was of West Indian extraction, this is a subject that was little explored a connection between the late 19th centuary west indian migration and this aspect.. From the Black Scorates to Claude Mckay... would be an interesting thesis...

If u read Malcolm X biography there was a character called West Indian Archie... a gangster..

In Negro with a Hat there is a claim that that the UNIA was repeatedly bailed out by another West Indian gangster !!!

U must of course add LIL KIM to that cohort!

cah yuh nuh ha no interest that is a judgement itself. Did you kno elijah was a staunch garvey follower? Alot of what they are saying is more christian than the so called islam you're thinking of.

Why is it a surprising discussion. It is a perfect fit for Caribbean-American Heritage Month. Surprising is the perfect title for intrigue and suspense. I didn't know about Louis Farrakan. I did know about most of the others

I do remember the West Indian Archie character that was beautifully portrayed in the Malcolm X movie by Delroy Lindo who is of course born in England of Jamaican parents. I could KICK myself as he was staying at the same hotel as me when I was last in Jamaica. He was spotted in the lobby where there was free Wifi picking up his e-mail. He kept a low profile, wore a hat but a couple of poeple spotted him. By the time I found out, he was gone. .

No I am not interested in bungee jumping doesn't mean I am judging it. The only thing I know about Elijah Mohammed was that he broke Malcolm X's heart when Malcolm found out he was rooksin around and getting women pregnant. I never had any interest in Nation of Islam. Are you going to tell me Elijah Mohammed has Caribbean roots too?
