u realise that by buying it locally u are enhancing the economy while brining it in does the opposite especially if u avoid paying duty on it...

yes man Mr Kelmani already pay the duty to bring dem in and him paying his cousin top Dollar to work in the shop.

and you know sey as a good business man him dutifully filing his tax return and paying the gov their share.

I use mine <span style="font-weight: bold">all the time</span>! I was given mine for a wedding present. It's a commercial heavy duty one with stainless and copper bowls, and every attachment Kitchen Aid ever made. (I haven't even used a few of those attachments...)
I regularly use --
the paddle blade
4 or 5 dough hooks (different sizes and shapes for different jobs)
about 6 flat beater blades (different sizes and shapes for different jobs)
several (8 or 9 ??) whipping whisks (different sizes and shapes for different jobs)
approx. a dozen different shaped wire whips (for different jobs)
the flex edge beater (for very heavy or really sticky doughs)
the meat grinder
the sausage stuffer
the fruit &amp; vegetable strainer/peel separator
the food tray that the above three attachments use*
the juicer


And I use the following semi-regularly:

the rotary slicer &amp; shredder (it slices larger vegetables than my Cuisine Art Custom 11 food processor can handle and the Kitchen Aid shreds the really big larger amounts far faster than the Cuisine Art also)
and
the grain mill


I also have the pasta making attachments, but I do no use those, because I prefer to make my macaroni with my Atlas pasta machine. I have the old-fashioned stainless steel Atlas pasta machine from Italy (an Italian-American friend brought it back for me) to which the motor has been added. I much prefer the Atlas machine and an old-fashioned wooden macaroni board to the Kitchen Aid...

I suppose I really ought to sell the Kitchen Aid pasta attachments... hmm

I do not have the Kitchen Aid ice cream attachment, which I have hear they now make. They didn't make that back when I was married in 1992, so I wasn't given that.

No, Wahalla, you don't get it.

Besides the usual uses for a stand mixer (mixing batters and doughs and other things that need good mixing more than you can easily do by hand)... a Kitchen Aid can grind meat, make sausage, stuff sausage casings; make juice in once simple step (bypassing three other messy steps and the necessity for several other machines and/or hand kitchen equipment); crush vegetables and/or fruit, separating the peels in one separate step, again bypassing a few other messy steps and the necessity for several other machines and/or hand kitchen equipment; make ice cream; make homemade macaroni (pr pasta - whatever you prefer to call it); do everything except the baking in the oven, for making bread; replace or negate the need for a separate food processor (if you don't need a smaller one)... and there are more uses, but those are the ones I can come up with, just off the cuff, without my having to stop and think about it.

A blender is a blender. A stand mixer is a stand mixer. They are different items entirely, just as Jamaica and Cuba are different islands.

The higher end models are worth their own seat.

The lower end models might not be...

Actually, mine - with all of it's attachments - needs it's own seat! <span style="font-style: italic">PLUS</span> some overhead space. <span style="font-style: italic">PLUS</span> underneath the seat in front of it, too!
(<span style="font-style: italic">Those copper bowls are d-e-l-i-c-a-t-e as hell... copper is so damn soft! And they're so expensive! OMG!</span>)

I can see how you would get all those different answers. And really, the airline doesn't decide if you get to carry it on, its airport security. The rules vary depending on what airport you are flying out of and what kind of day your security agent is having.

The motor is probably ok because it is enclosed.
