And we ALL suffer for it. Do you realize that at one time Jamaicans actually had a GOOD reputation in Canada. I remember my parents telling us to watch how we conduct ourselves as we will build a reputation and make it easier for those who come after us. It was a standard thing that Jamaican parents used to tell their kids. Jamaicans had a reputation for being polite, studious and hard-working.

Guess they shouldn't have bothered as some of those who followed sure tarnished our reputation in a hurry.

there are pedominately middle class areas of toronto with blacks. that's the way i grew up, with the two cars, the working truck the driver's licence at sixteen and such; there just <span style="font-weight: bold">not </span>predominately <span style="font-weight: bold">black middle class areas</span> ones - well maybe ajax. most <span style="font-weight: bold">black</span> areas are government housing areas. girls have their first baby at 15 and become a grandmother by 34 because it's too hard to read and maybe learn something and your mother had you when she herself was 15.

so, it does have a lot to say about this situation. people do what they know.

Actually, we have whole states with a lower murder rate. If Toronto has 28 murders almost seven months into the year(July), than we can assume that for the year this amount could almost double?

I understand the population difference, 1.3 mil to 3 mil but, even if you tripled the population the murder rate would be lower in New Hampshire on average.

The very obvious elephant in the room is this. How many victims and perpetrators are minorities?

Why is this ignored in the US? And now Canada is experiencing the same kind of violence?

I think it is because NH does not have a large influx of Eastern Europeans esp Russians

Granted, places like New Hampshire have very low homicide rates, but I think you have to keep things in perspective.

New Hampshire is a largely rural state while if you were to combine the U.S.A. and Canada, Toronto would be the fourth largest city, right behind Chicago.

It's like comparing apples to oranges. Totally different environment!

There are black middle class families in Toronto and the GTA. Name me ONE middle clas area in the GTA where there is a large concentration of Black people (such as what you see in areas like Jane-Finch)? Just one will do. Tonx.

Very interesting...in Montreal there have been high profile mob hits in the last 2 years. Also there have been ton of mob related torchings of restaurants and bars. Yet, when there is a crime report no one automatically assumes it's an Italians. Why do people assume it's a Jamaican when they hear about a shooting.....RichD don't come in here and say nothing noh go soh. Visit some of the Toronto area boards and read some of the comments on news articles about shootings.

still not sure what the argument you are making is.


yes you are right the majority of Blacks in the GTA are lower income and tend to live in ontario housing. thus the concentration in certain areas.

the middle class ones tend to move out of the city core(in most cses becaue they cant afford to live in nicer toronto areas) and live in areas like ajax pickering brampton and mississauga..the numbers are still not sufficient have any degree of concentration.
