Re: Him Pick di wrong house fi rob.
I have always said this... but many of unnu have disagreed - often vehemently - with me on this: An armed society is a polite society.
If everyone is armed, then it is a level playing field, and the young punks know they must remain polite to the elderly, the women, and the weaker people of our society.

Of course, this ^ doesn't really work against complete lunatics like we just saw in Colorado... although perhaps someone armed might have taken the nutball out before he did quite as much damage in terms of human lives and injuries. Think about that.

Becsuse he was deterred by the idea of armed citizens he could find st tge nearby military base or anywhere else. The most effective use of firearms is deterrent.

I think if the general population in Colorado were allowed to keep and carry, no matter how crazy he is/was, he would be forced to make a different calculation.
In any case the Right to Arms are to be blamed as well.
They must accept that there are crazy folks out there. So more thorough checks and restrictions on the type, numbers of weapons and variety of ammunition should be part of the right to bear arms.

KF_Milo, just thought I'd but in here for a word or two. I can remember my many discussions with Dr. Dudd in the past about illegal guns in Jamaica. Milo, I will have to correct you on Dudd's stated position of years past. He was an advocate for all Jamaicans to be allowed the right to own guns for their own protection. It was his way of dealing with the gun violence back in the day. But It was my stated position that only law abiding citizens be allowed to legally own guns, this was where we differed as far as I can remember. It didn't matter to Dudd, who were the buyers of guns if they were supposedlly legal in Jamaica, imo.
His philosophy was that the govt should allow every Jamaican "the right to own a gun" in the belief that criminals would "meet their match". I take it, why would anyone want to apply for legal firearms in Jamaica when everyone was practically assured of one under his plan? Can anyone accept that ordinary Jamaicans would be expected to take on the responsibilities for their own safety instead of the Jamaican Constabulary Force..
Under "Dudd's edict" which I am still against, many novice gun owners would be like sitting ducks when the criminal Pros come a-calling : Jamaica land we Love, would become the "wild wild west" of the Caribbean with our own version of
"Showdown OK Corral"; but we aint gonna make it happen..

Thanks for setting the record straight barosa. Yes, I too believe that only law abiding, licensed citizens should own the guns legally. They must also be trained on how to use and care for their firearms.
Someone would think twice about breaking into someones home if there was a chance of someone on the other side of the door waiting for them with trigger at the ready.
