Really? If she was heterosexual, would it have merited a posting? Personally speaking, that she was a lesbian is (should be) a non-issue as it has absolutely no bearing on her competence as a scientist.aka ChurchDude. I want that moniker back! Until then....

To me it made her accomplishment that much more remarkable. Not only did she need to earn a spot to travel into space but she had to guard her private life in order not to place her career in jeopardy.Comment

I see in the posted article they question why she didn't use her sexual orientation to publicly promote the rights of gays and lesbians. They need to cut her some slack! Not everyone is cut out to be a spokesperson.

Agreed. Plus, they could take a page from her book as well: go about your businesses and live your life productively and purposefully. Your sexuality is nobody's business and doesn't have to be a public matter.aka ChurchDude. I want that moniker back! Until then....
