COPS SEARCH WORKERS FOR MISSING MANGOES

A group of employees at a company in the Corporate Area are now seething with one of their managers after the boss summoned the police to search them to locate missing mangoes, THE STAR has learnt.
Information reaching THE STAR is that about 3:30 p.m. on Friday, police officers from the St Andrew Central Division were summoned to the establishment by a female manager, who was furious with workers after her mangoes could not be found.
An employee who spoke to THE STAR on terms of anonymity described the experience as distasteful and embarrassing.
"Just the screening and the atmosphere was not a nice place to be in," the disgruntled worker reasoned.
THE STAR was informed that it is customary for another manager to bring mangoes from her home to the office for employees to consume.
Furthermore, the fruits are usually placed at a central point for workers to take and share them among themselves.
However, it turns out the fruits that were brought to the office yesterday were for the manager in question, but the employees were unaware of that, so they helped themselves to the fruits as they are used to.
Soon after, the boss, who was to be the recipient of the mangoes, reportedly called the police and the security guard hired to the company after realising that they were absent.
It is also alleged that the manager instructed the lawmen to search all employees before they were allowed to leave which angered the staff.
"She told them to but they didn't, they left," an employee remarked.
THE STAR understands that members of staff who faced the indignation are planning to report the matter to the Ministry of Labour.
Up to press time last night, the exact number of mangoes that reportedly went missing was unknown.
Interestingly, when THE STAR made contact with the police, those on duty said they were unaware of the incident.
