Also there is an excellent doctor here, Jamaican passport, UK born, raised in Canada, travels on 2 passports. Has won a Harry Jerome award.

Malcolm Gladwell is Jamaican too.

We know we could use more but it's great to have some.

i like gladwell's writing. been reading him for at least 15 years in the new yorker. he writes about meaningful and provocative issues, a lot of it about pop culture. he was one of the first to write extensively about the impact of football head injury on ex-players. i've read articles he's written about using black youth culture to sell stuff to white kids. i've read an analysis he wrote of corporate culture at one of the major car companies, where he basically showed how ageism allowed a younger appointee to claim credit for successes achieved from an older executive.

he's not someone i'd dismiss as a sellout, even if he has a different political view from mine.

i read his stuff the old fashioned way - via hard copy. it was sometime last year or the year before, and i think the company was ford. i'll check when i have some time and if the link is online i'll post.
