certified cheque
<span style="font-weight: bold">"I got a call sometime last week from a man who said that he's calling from Texas</span> to tell me that I'm the winner of a certified cheque for $1.5 million, so I asked him which company is this and him tell me that him calling from the head office from the company overseas," a victim told our news team.
"He was unable to say which company," she continued.
Furthermore, the woman added ,"My son then took the phone and began to question the caller but it seemed as if when he heard the male voice he hung up."
Our news team was told that the call was received around 8 p.m. sometime last week.
Another person who spoke on terms of anonymity told THE WEEKEND STAR that she is aware of the revised illegal activity of the scammers.
Up to press time last night, THE WEEKEND STAR was unable to make contact with Head of the Anti-Lottery Scam Unit, Senior Superintendent Leon Clunis, as calls to his cellphone went unanswered.
All calls to the Constabulary Communication Network also went unanswered.
