This is the same bored mayor who was insisting that the taxi drivers wear uniforms and park at a designated bus park far away from the market and shoppes. Soon im going expec' dem fe wear gloves like de Japanese.
I thought the flooding a while back would have given him something to do to stop coming up with these <span style="font-weight: bold">STUPID</span> rules but I guess not.

BUS AND taxi operators are appealing to the St Mary Parish Council and the police to be transparent in their operations and policy decisions which have allowed some operators to breach the law unmolested.
The public-transport operators occupying the Port Maria Bus Park are livid over what they have described as unfair treatment towards them while others, who are in violation, are allowed to operate with virtual impunity.
"It is a clear indication of favouritism and victimisation. Only taxi and bus operators plying the route Port Maria to Ocho Rios, Annotto Bay, and Highgate, are now utilising the bus park," said Clarence Thomas, a bus operator who plies that route. "Other operators plying routes to Free Hill, Fanny Gate, Oxford, Islington, and Amstead are making illegal pick-ups either at the bridge, or near to the gas station. I believe that the police have become frustrated with the situation, and they do not had the manpower to deal with the situation. More needs to be done to stop this practice," Thomas added.
Thomas argued that it could be that some had conformed to rules and regulations while others, who are in breach, are allowed to operate for such a long time without being caught.
Another operator, Howard Johnson, told The Gleaner that the bus park is not located at a suitable spot as persons who shop at various places of business in Port Maria find it difficult to walk all the way from where they shop to the bus park.
"Everyone is aware of this situation. At times, we try to alleviate the burdens and challenges encountered by persons who are burdened with goods by making pick-ups close by," related Johnson. "But we come under constant harassment from the police, and oftentimes our vehicles are seized, or we are saddled with some hefty fines. The system is simply not working, and the parish council should look into this matter, and the police should use their discretion at times," he added.
But while the bus and taxi operators have voiced their grouses, Mayor of Port Maria Richard Creary is insisting that law and order has to be maintained and that the council and the police are on an all-out drive to ensure that operators of public-passenger vehicles adhere to the regulations.
"The town has outlived its space. The level of congestion in the town of Port Maria is appalling, and every effort will be made to reduce traffic congestion," stated Creary. "Those who are failing to use the bus park will be charged. Every bus and taxi operator will have to comply or face prosecution."</div></div>
