I wasn't here 10 years ago, but they just keep saying, &quot;It's hard, It's hard. It never used to be this hard.&quot; From what mi see...it is hard for many of them. Mi not sure how them can survive, but they do. What I find interesting is that they don't blame one party or the other. They are from the school (call it Jaded/Illuminati/Conspiracy...etc) that all politicians are liars at the end of the day. They seem to accept that things will not improve for their lives, no matter who is in office, they will continue to do what needs to be done to survive until God punches their ticket outta here.

It is very interesting to see.

It will be interesting to see how President Obama adresses this type of question in regards to Americans in general in the debates. Solar power is every bit efficient and reliable as the weather. No sun = no power. Same with the wind. No wind = no power. How about these facts: 250 high-efficiency solar facilities taking up some 20,000 acres , or 500 state of the art wind turbines spread out aproximately 40,000 acres, would replace one 1,000 MW gas-fired power plant. Solar may make you feel good, but it's not practical. It’s all about thermodynamics and costs. Don't believe me? Ask Wahalla...

If everyone drove electric cars the electric power grids would be pushed over their limits,(they are pushed to the limit now) when we all plugged them in for recharge...and the electric is from coal and gas (turbines). Result:You are still using fossil fuel to power your car.

That's correct you pay for a service. You pay for my service and my abilty to pull your arse or your family out of a burning building, or rescue if invovlved in auto accident, medic call etc.

Lawmakers and business leaders need to rekindle a spirit of cooperation if the U.S. wants to lead in clean energy and address climate change, says Former President Bill Clinton.
Speaking at the National Clean Energy Summit in Las Vegas, President Clinton attempted to cut through the contentious political fights picked by the “denialists in Congress” and highlight the importance of cooperation in fostering smart, forward-thinking clean energy policy.
“The great winners of the world are the cooperators. Why is this important? Because cooperation gets lousy news coverage and people don’t know about it. We have to both think large and have a bias for action even if it’s small,” said Clinton.
He also encouraged the industry to continuing telling local stories of successful projects around the U.S., which he believes can diminish some of the political push-back against clean energy policy.
“If we want to do these projects, we need to make sure that more people know. Even in this highly partisan time we need to struggle for public-private cooperation. Even if the news in Washington might be disheartening because of the denialists in Congress. But across the rest of the country, the news isn’t so bad.”
Clinton outlined efficiency and renewable energy projects around the country, including the efficiency retrofit of the Empire State Building and the Ivahpah concentrating solar power project, which cumulatively created thousands of green jobs.
“Every place people do things the power of example changes consciousness,” said Clinton.
He pointed to all the construction workers he met in California working on building the 392-megawatt Ivanpah solar project — people of “all races” with some of the “best tattoos” he’d ever seen. Those construction workers are the people who are going to make the difference in moving the clean energy industry forward, said Clinton.
“Think about the tattoos. You win the tattoo vote, we’ll have the damnedest environmental policy you ever saw.”
When asked about the partisan politics stalling comprehensive climate and energy policy, Clinton said he believes that some of it will pass after November. “I think people will start thinking instead of just trying to tear the house down.”
In his final statement, Clinton encouraged people on the local level to continue working for a bipartisan consensus.
“Where ever you live, find something to do. Keep working until you find somebody of a different political persuasion with the same goal, and then figure out how to achieve it. So while you lobby for political change on the national level, it’s important to do something. Even if it seems small, it will have a big impact. Differences of opinion are important. If your purpose is to reach an agreement than your disagreements become much more valuable. We are going to have to become a stakeholder society again — that’s the only thing that works.”

Almost 4.4 gigawatts (4,373.5 megawatts) of photovoltaic capacity were installed in Germany in the first half of 2012, according to new estimated numbers from the Federal Association of Energy and Water (Bundesverbandes der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft, or BDEW).

It was the biggest first half of solar PV growth in Germany’s history of subsidized solar PV development, a 47 percent advance on the first half of 2011. Adjustments in the feed-in tariff (FIT) and planned further adjustments were a major factor in driving growth.

Growth leapt after a fast first quarter of 1.9 gigawatts. March saw over 1.2 gigawatts (1,222.77 megawatts) added. By June, there were almost 1.8 new PV gigawatts (1,790.21 megawatts) added, almost as much new capacity as in the entire first quarter. It was the second-biggest June in German history after the nearly 2,100 megawatts added in June 2010.

For the first time, renewables provided over a quarter (just under 26 percent) of Germany’s electricity (67.9 billion kilowatt-hours of an overall 261.5 billion kilowatt-hours) in the first half of 2012.

btw our rooftop gets enough sunlight to provide all our electricity for our family of 5, and our backup for when the sun is not shining is a combination of wind and hydro-electric. Water actually runs downhill at night!
