Incorrect Patois?

[Tropicana]

Still in Quebec visiting my Mom. She has said it before and she ust said it again when talking on the phone and I am sure this is incorrect:

"Mi nain call you."

Please tell me if this is correct or incorrect patois. I am sure Tanya will know.

Also,"Stand crooked and cut straight". Mi nevah heard dat deh one before. I am sure she is making this up.

Patwa has different variations in each parish and even within the parishes. One of the reaso why it has so many variations is it is not considered genuine if you try to speak t perfectly. This is strange but true. Stay on crooked snd cut straight is a common Jamaican proverb. It mean you do what you have to do do as to survive long enough to fo what you really want to do. Also an oft practiced strategy of Jamaicans.

I'm surprised...and here I accussed her of making things up. Apology accepted. She says it means the same thing as &quot;Mi nevah call you&quot; but it's more authentic.

my opinion is that the different parish's have different word/phrases of patios based on the language of the people who settled there. the West coast had a large German influx so naturally some of their words would have been adopted. whether the context is correct or not I don't know

Did you know that the dutch/afrikaaners use the word Wratig (unsure of the spelling) in the same way that we use the word Rhaatid?
