A Jamaican national, who was trying to flee India after dumping a bag at a New Delhi railway station, late last week, was overpowered by an auto-rickshaw driver and other passers-by.
According to The Hindu, police suspect his involvement in some cheating racket.
The accused identified himself as Martin Blair, a Jamaican national, who had been living at Hastsal in Uttam Nagar.
According to reports, about eleven o'clock last Thursday morning, an auto-rickshaw driver, was waiting for someone inside the railway station.
The auto-rickshaw driver reportedly spotted a foreign national leaving, after dropping his bag under mysterious circumstances.
When he accosted the foreigner, he started fleeing.
Suspecting that something was amiss, the auto-rickshaw driver, raised an alarm and started chasing the foreigner.
He, along with some cab drivers intercepted Mr. Blair and handed him over to security personnel.
A bomb squad was summoned to examine the bag, but no explosives were found.
The police found an electronic safe, that contained some papers.
Investigators say, they are yet to trace Mr. Blair's passport.
The police plan to engage an interpreter to interrogate Mr. Blair, who may be booked under the Foreigners’ Act.
Investigations will also be conducted to ascertain when he came to India.
