Latest Jobs Report Good News for Obama

This morning's report on job numbers is especially good news for the president.

No president since FDR has ever been re-elected when the unemployment rate was at 8% or over come election time.

This morning's figure came in at 7.8%, down significantly from last month when it was over 8%.

Conservatives are already claiming the figures have been cooked to help President Obama win re-election.

Having done <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="color: #CC0000">everything they could to keep it over 8%</span></span> I can understand why the Republicans are all in a snit over this news. They blocked his agenda at every opportunity so it must not be true.

And corporate profits have been higher than they have ever been under Obama and the value of the companies listed by Dow Jones has risen by over 50% since Obama took office.

I wonder if that is cooked up too.

How many of these jobs were created by government and NOT by private sector? Cash-strapped state governments and the federal government added thousands of jobs in July, August and September, adding to the overall jobs numbers. Obama created the numbers by creating government jobs. This was a well orchestrated plan to fool the general public. The reality is that the numbers don't reflect a growing economy. A true measure of a growing economy is the expansion of small business and small business hiring. Small businesses are responsible for the majority of hiring in the United States. Businesses with fewer than 20 employees account for 90 percent of all U.S. firms.

A big factor in small businesses not hiring, is the Health-Care Law and also the cost of fuel($1.85 a gallon when Obama took office?). Like it or not, small business will not hire if they are responsible for an employees expensive health care. Obama has not clarified what expense they or we will be responsible for.

Everything is a mess, and Obama, as President of US, is responsible for the mess. He has had four years to make some type of change, or at least put the country on the right path to recovery. He has accomplished nothing. He has failed. It's time to move on. We can't survive four more years of Obama.

Do the CORRECT research on how the numbers break down, and not the smoke and mirrors that are being used to create the delusion.

You must ask yourself this question. Why are we always being lied to?

wasn't unemployment almost 10% and the economy loosing almost a million jobs a month?..When Obama took office...7.8% is still a bit high but it is a significant improvement

That was the explanation given to you by the administration for your consumption. It is nonsense.

The public option was actually very popular.....even amongst those who identified themselves as Republicans but especially amongst Democratic voters. In one poll conducted by Reuters, <span style="font-weight: bold">86% of Democratic households supported it</span> so there was no basis for this &quot;fear in their districts&quot; that you have repeated here. Also, the Democratic leadership in the Senate - Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer and Bob Menendez - all pushed for it to be included. But when Obama presented his version to the bipartisan committe it was not there.

What actually occurred was a failure by the White House to successfully fend off lobbyists for private hospitals and insurance companies who wanted it removed from the bill in exchange for their support. The insurance companies agreed to take some people with pre-existing conditions and they got thirty million new customers in return by way of the mandate while the hospitals no longer faced the specter of a public option with the ability to negotiate lower reimbursement rates. And support it they did, both through the media and with their campaign contributions. Americans had their health care coverage sold for a bag of rice.

Dudd, the Senate had no chance to vote on the public option in the final version of the bill sent to them...it wasn't there.

You have made some excellent points, and I'm in agreement with you.

Plain and simple, people need jobs. Not government jobs, but private sector jobs. Private sector jobs allow people to pay the taxes that support the government infrastructure. It's not rocket science. Government jobs simply add more burden and debt on government. Obama, or the next president, needs to sit down with big business/companies, and find out what they(business) need the government to do, to create an environment, that is friendly to big businesses relocating to the United States.

We(US citizens) are(or were) the number one consumer in the world. We cannot consume(purchase products) without jobs. This leads me to believe that they( big businesses) are satisfied with China as the new number one consumer(or soon to be) and don't give a rats a$$ about the citizens of the US and the politicians are on the take. Why should they care? they have plenty of money..imho
