A jilted lover stalked and shot his ex-girlfriend and her new beau, ignoring the woman’s desperate pleas for mercy early Saturday outside a seedy Bronx motel.

Joseph Kernizan, 42, was waiting when the couple emerged from the Holiday Motel around 3:10 a.m., and he blasted more than two dozen bullets at the helpless duo, witnesses and police said.

“Don’t do it! Don’t do it!” wailed Tracy Bennett, 38, before the shooter gunned down the twosome in the parking lot. The slain woman had an order of protection against Kernizan, police sources said.

Bennett and her boyfriend, Wayne Hamilton, 50, were about to leave in her white Toyota Camry when Kernizan sprinted out of the darkness and opened fire, the sources said.

Hamilton hopped from the passenger seat and tried to escape the hail of bullets that cut him down near the motel office, sources and witnesses said. Kernizan then turned his pistol on the weeping Bennett as she stood by her parked sedan, its motor still running, near Room 104. The doomed woman pleaded for her life before he opened fire.

“I looked out my window and saw a lady standing there,” said Ricky Gugliotta, who was staying in a nearby room with some friends celebrating a pal’s birthday. “She was begging him not to shoot her, but then he shot her twice and she went down.”

Both Bennett, of Elmont, L.I., and Hamilton, a Milwaukee reggae musician known as Captain Barkey, died at the scene, police said.

Witness Damone Jackson, 38, said the shooter was bouncing nervously around the parking lot before he opened fire.

“I saw the guy running around. He was dancing all over the place,” Jackson said. “Then, I heard the shots. It sounded like about 30 shots. It was like two clips worth.”

Investigators said Kernizan sped away from the scene in a blue Honda sedan and was still at large Saturday.

Bennett’s neighbors said they often heard her and her ex-beau screaming at each other — and cops were regularly called to the tidy two-story home.

“We always heard them fighting,” said Carolina Manzano, 32, who described Bennett, a mother of three, as a sweet woman who was seen leaving her house every morning in nurse scrubs.

But her ex-boyfriend appeared to live a much different lifestyle, staying out all night and often returning with different flashy cars. Kernizan, described as short and heavyset, told neighbors he opened a club in West Hempstead.

“He was always acting suspicious,” Manzano said, adding that Bennett had a daughter in her late teens and a son and daughter between the ages of 8 and 10.

Hamilton, who grew up on the island of Jamaica, flew into the city Friday night to meet up with his old pals, according to a friend.

Married with kids, Hamilton had known Bennett for 18 months, said pal Natchelous Demus, 37.

Hamilton was seen earlier in the night at Memories Lounge near East Gun Hill Road, with a woman in a black top and tight black pants.

“They were lovers,” Demus said.

Wickerman has confirmed that Barkey was involved in a dangerous love triangle with Tricia Bennett who was allegedly married. Captain Barkey and Bennett were shot several times in a parking lot of a hotel in the Bronx, New York.

“Mi warn him nuff time because the man is a serious man….him all run down Barkey and the woman already and broadside him car, and Barkey still never waan hear,” a teary Wickerman told one876entertainment.com.

actually I did read the story.

initially when it was reported there was no mention of the woman "man" and restraining order.

Bennett, a nurse at a Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, L.I., had been dating the reggae star for five years, friends said.

Meanwhile, she struggled to leave Kernizan, the father of two of her three children.“He was so obsessed with her,” Bennett's friend said. As Bennett moved toward independence, even taking out an order of protection against Kernizan, he grew more enraged, the friend said.

“I know he wanted her dead — and the lover,” Bennett's friend said.
Other neighbors have said that police were frequently called to the house Kernizan and Bennett shared in Elmont. Hamilton, best known for his 1996 hit “Go Go Wine,” lived in Milwaukee with his wife, Mavis Hamilton.

She knew nothing about his affair with Bennett, even though he alluded to it in song. “Now that he’s dead, what can I do?” Mavis Hamilton, 48, said. “The memories that I’ll keep is the man that I know that loved me.” She left worried messages for him when she didn’t hear from him after taking him to the airport Friday for his New York trip.”

Mavis Hamilton, wife of reggae singer Wayne Hamilton, said she knew nothing of her late husband's affair with Tracy Bennett.

Hamilton started his reggae career in his native Jamaica, before moving to the U.S.. “He was the funniest, kindest, most loving person you would ever meet,” his wife said.

Bennett’s alleged killer is the father of her two younger children, a 12-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy. Her oldest child, her daughter Dajahnae, 18, rushed home from the University of Baltimore after learning her mom was dead. “She may have to drop out,” said the student’s anguished father, Andre, who declined to give his last name.”

Man suspected of Bronx motel murders of ex-girlfriend and her beau commits suicide

A jilted lover wanted for the Bronx murder of his ex-girlfriend and her reggae-singer beau committed suicide in a Miami apartment, a New York law enforcement source told the Daily News Wednesday.

Fugitive Joseph Kernizan, 42, fatally shot himself in the head as the law closed in on his first-floor Florida refuge about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, the source said.

Cops believe Kernizan gunned down his ex-girlfriend, Tracy Bennett, 38, and popular reggae singer Wayne Hamilton, 50, outside the Holiday Motel in Eastchester Saturday morning.

Kernizan and Bennett had two children together, but she had been dating Hamilton for about five years before the killings outside the hot sheets motel.

NYPD detectives tracked the suspect to a two-story, four-family house in Miami, which was encircled with help of federal marshals and Miami police, the source said.
