the other day Jamaica had a big old celebration with the GG a hand out OD to plenty people, one was Toots Hibbert, and one was to Peter Tosh

now, me waan know how unu feel bout this?

me no tink none a dem ppl deh did fe get OD,
OD is to given and highly respected to like

an innovator, like a scientist, a doctor, not some bad wud talking rasta man a gwaan like him no have no sense, all me can memba from Tosh is him always angry

Toots - now tell me wha him get OD fah, festival songs? no man, dat a no fe OD

THE ORDER OF MERIT

The Order of Merit is the third highest honour and may be conferred upon any citizen of Jamaica who has achieved eminent international distinction in his or her field of endeavour. A distinguished citizen of a country other than Jamaica may be conferred as an honorary member of this Order.

This Order may be conferred on no more than two persons in any given year and have a total of fifteen (15) living members, other than honorary members. The recipient is formally styled ‘The Honourable’ and uses the post nominal letters ‘OM’ for members and ‘OM (Hon)’ for honorary members.

The insignia of the Order of Merit is a collar badge suspended from a deep maroon silk riband. The six-armed white enamelled star with twelve points has superimposed on it a lesser shaped star in silver. Between each of the outer six points of the star is the blue Lignum Vitae flower of Jamaica. In the centre is the Coat of Arms of Jamaica in gold on a contrasting silver background, surrounded by the motto of the Order ‘He That Does Truth Comes Into The Light’ in gold lettering on red enamel.

Recipients of the Order include:

•The Honourable Dr. Albert Lockhart
•The Honourable Edna Manley
•The Honourable Robert Nesta Marley
•Professor the Honourable Rex Nettleford
•Professor the Honourable Michael Smith
•Professor the Honourable Manley West
•The Honourable Cecily Williams
•The Honourable Louise Bennett Coverley
•Professor the Honourable Mervyn Morris

but uncle B was sooo much more than just a singer
he was like a messenger,
he promoted peace in such a volatile time in ja - and was shot for his efforts too
he went to Zimbabwe and performed to show solidarity
to me, he did a lotttt for ja

but Peter??

and Bunny? no bra

I think the article mentioned Bunny as well, I believe the award was picked up by his son if mi nuh lie.

Through his singing he contributed more to the GDP than most...

Shabba soon get his, Yellowman over due....

Militant re equal rights n justice...angry re Ras a yard get beat up by police just because, n cuss in one song using a word dat recently oonoo cry blood tru a police kill a pregnant ooman fi use


Guess if him did breed up nuff ooman, dis him wife by denying har, try odda whites n bad man enuff fi get di moniker gong, it would prove his worth fi di award.....
